The concept of time
«Here and now»: an unspoken concept of modernity that expresses the idea of living in one moment and manifesting oneself in it to the maximum of possibilities. It means not worrying about the future, not regretting the past, but accepting and acting in this segment of real time. The Internet is full of various articles, books, and tips on how to achieve this desired state.
A similar concept of time as «here and now» can be found in the past, but the very understanding of time was previously arranged differently from ours. Our time consists of cause-and-sequence events, and for ancient mythology it seemed fundamentally «nonlinear.» In it, events occur that exclude each other for modern understanding, for example, the hero may be at the same moment in time in different places and, moreover, may experience quite different states to each other. In the myth, there is no «single clock», absolute time and the duration of time intervals are conditional, heroes have no age, they can overcome death and give immortality to another — but fate, fate plays a decisive role in their lives. In myth, we can observe the predestination of parts of time, the reverse of what we are used to, the present is determined not by the past, but by the future — fate or some global idea. The temporal sequence is not related to cause and effect, that is, in order for something to happen, the previous moment in time and its conditions are not required. Everything happens not «because», but «in order», the hero in «here and now» performs a certain predetermined role, without his own knowledge, performs a higher task. Something happens at the moment that is necessary to solve the future, where the future, as a kind of «higher plane», plays the role of attraction, influencing the present, serving it as a guide. In a way, time moves in the opposite direction, it is not past actions that decide the picture of the present, but the future that shapes the present through the prism of a certain plan, fate or fate.
In her practice, Anastasia refers to the mythological concepts of antiquity, making prerequisites for further analysis of modern ones, such as time. The artist uses a similar principle of «reverse direction» in his technique, applying paint at a certain point in time, she works with a layer preceding this one. The moment of the present «here and now» is simply an action, where the subsequent layer is the guiding one, since it deforms what was set before. In his practice, the artist uses various acids, thinners, varnishes, everything that changes the surface, leading to its changes, effects, highlights and reliefs. By applying layer after layer, splitting, holding or specially drying, the artist achieves an ordered picture, a certain special integrity of his feelings.
For antiquity, «here and now» the current moment of time is a piece of fate, where the assembly of time is realized: past, present and future. Time exists as a whole, in the unity of its parts, and only as a whole, as a general plan that makes sense. Maybe this principle will seem close to us, because often the meaning of individual events in a person’s life becomes clear only after everything has happened.
